Born in 1990 in Istanbul, Ali Kanibelli has been an avid sailor and outdoors enthusiast since an early age. While embarking on voyages on the seas, Kanibelli has embraced his passion for the journey and the charting of it on camera by putting his focus and skills in navigation and practicality, shot his first short documentaries. Having graduated from Sabanci University in Istanbul with a BA in VCD, Kanibelli finished his graduate studies in Barcelona in marketing. Ever a keen photographer throughout his higher education, Kanibelli captured the moment in his cameras with stillness, patience and appreciation when our world is in a constant spin of hurry and haste. Having harnessed multiple disciplines of the arts and graduate studies, Kanibelli transformed his unique perspective into what he calls "one man army" with which he executes the production of his documentary films from A to Z while addressing any and all components of the process himself. As the "one man army," Kanibelli with his undivided attention accomplishes on his own what otherwise requires extra hands, time and resources.

In addition to numerous other domestic and international projects on which Kanibelli collaborates actively with director MU Tunc, the duo has just completed work of two years on Nukhet Duru Documentary for which Kanibelli was the director of photography. This comprehensive biographical study of the renowned international artist, Duru, has in it the primordial drive to chronicle historic events and their influences on the artist and the artist's documented footprint that she has left on the society of historic proportions while projecting the importance of such a legacy to future generations.

Ali Kanıbelli, 19 Aralık 1990’da İstanbul’da doğdu. Geçmişten günümüze hala yelken ve doğayla yakından ilgilenen Kanıbelli beceri, konsantrasyon, yön bilgisi, pratiklik gibi birçok disiplini öğrenirken, seyir esnasında ekip çalışmasının ve yol katetme hissiyatını belgeleme sorumluluğunu benimseyerek ilk kısa belgesellerini çekmeye başladı. 

Lisansını Sabancı Üniversitesi'nde VCD üzerine tamamladıktan sonra yüksek lisansı Barselona’da Marketing üzerine yaptı. Üniversite yıllarında fotoğraf makinesi ile fazlasıyla haşır neşir olurken, dönemin hızlı yaşam problemi içerisinde yavaşlama, sindirme ve sabrı öğrendi. Farklı disiplinleri harmanlayan Kanıbelli, bu disiplinleri “one man army” diye tanımladığı potansiyel geleceğin işine dönüştürdü. Film yapım sürecinin başından sonuna kadar tüm detaylarıyla kendisi ilgilenerek, bir çok kişinin yapabileceği işi bölünmeden, daha az insan kullanarak daha hızlı ve tasarruflu halde bitirebildiğini farketti. 

Aktif olarak yönetmen MU Tunç ile yurtiçinde ve yurtdışında gerçekleştirdiği birçok projenin haricinde, yakında ekranlarda olacak olan, görüntü yönetmenliğini yaptığı Nükhet Duru belgeseli ile son 2 yıldır ilgileniyorlar. Temel motivasyonu; toplumun gelişimindeki tarihsel olaylara tanıklık ederken her daim kayıt altına alarak gelecek nesillere bilgiyi projekte etmek ve iz bırakmak.
